The Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and change-over procedures of machines. The operator may work with computer-controlled equipment. This job description is not intended to cover or contain all duties or responsibilities that are required by the employee. ​

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational duties such as manual lifting, taping, and measuring.

  • Lift material bales using a lift machine.

  • Measure material bales for accuracy.

  • Use a pallet jack.

  • Operate mechanical hoist.

  • Work with a conveyor belt system.

  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. 

  • Test operation of machine periodically.

  • Starts and stops machines and complies with emergency stops.

  • Maintain machine logbooks and records for inspections per SOP. 

  • Maintain the work area, machines, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow set safety regulations. 

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Must be comfortable working at a height greater than 6 feet.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. 

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. 

  • Work will involve some repetitive motions to include frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of products and product containers.   

  • Due to the environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity, and cold. 

Requirements

  • Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to read/understand/fill out paperwork for operation.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.

  • Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization Utilize various equipment as needed to perform duties.
